NOTCHING

The process of preparing tube & pipe ends for all types of joints have been referred to as fish mouth, coping and notching. In this section we will illustrate the notching tooling and equipment used to produce basic 90º notches for heavy stick weld construction to precision angular cosmetic joints where one can braze or silver solder the joints.

This section will illustrate options for low volume applications where one will notch one wall per press cycle to high volume applications where one will load bundles of tubing into a hopper and automatically notch both tube ends in a single cycle.

We will also illustrate tooling that may be used in a hand press, brake press, ironworker, or our own line of hydraulic presses.
