PIERCING

The process for generating openings in a tube or pipe has been referred to as punching, slotting, piercing. In this section we will illustrate the many examples for piercing holes, slots and special shapes in a tube or pipe.

In this section we will illustrate options for low volume applications where one will punch a single hole per press cycle to high volume applications with CNC controlled machines that will pierce a variety of hole sizes and locations around the circumference and length of a tube.

We will illustrate the many possibilities for punching dimpled holes (non-supported), clean holes (internal arbor supported) in a single wall or multiple, vertical pierced, horizontally pierced, and combination of all the above and more.

Applications for the combining of operations to flatten, pierce and trim tube ends and much more will be illustrated in this section.

We will also illustrate tooling that may be used in an existing punch press (hydraulic or mechanical) or our own line of hydraulic presses.
